Guests that frequent Bed and Breakfasts often say they love the old houses. Did you ever think about what it takes to maintain a 104 year old house? Our house was built in 1907 by Arthur and Nana Lohman. At the time, Mr. Lohman was a purchasing agent for the Hamilton Company in Two Rivers. We were also told that when work was slow at the factory, the Hamilton carpenters came out and also built houses in Two Rivers. Which they did ours.
Even though we are the owners of this beautiful house, sometimes it feels like we are only the caretakers that have been entrusted with it’s care for this short time period of the life of this house. This summer my husband Alan took on the challenge for the second time (he vows it will be his last time) of painting the exterior of our 40′ high home. The first time he did it with ladders, this time we rented an articulated boom which worked great. Two weekends of 10 – 12 hour days he got her done! Thanks Alan!
Many times our guests might not have the opportunity to meet Alan during their short stays, but he is the other half that keeps this bed and breakfast going and looking great. I certainly couldn’t do this business without him. Love You!
